Pore pressure sensor installed

In Zwijndrecht (NL), one of the first pore pressure sensors was installed at a depth of approximately 6 meters. All its measurement data is integrated into our online portal.

Pore pressure sensors measure water pressure in underground layers for applications such as foundations and dike monitoring.

The data from these sensors, just like from our (ground)water meters, is also visualized in our online portal. We developed a special dashboard for this purpose.

After drilling the hole, the outer casing was inserted into the ground up to 1 meter above the measurement depth.

The sensor, attached to the top of the sounding rod, was then inserted into the outer casing. After this, the sounding rod was pressed into the ground for the final meter.

It is very important that the pressure in the sensor does not increase too much during this process. For this purpose, our innovation department developed a handy pressure checker, which continuously displays the pressure in the sensor while it is being pressed into the ground.

By installing this sensor, at a depth of approximately 6 meters, Socotec keeps a close eye on the water pressure in this dike in Zwijndrecht.
