The City of Louvain wants to limit both nuisance and hearing damage caused by high sound levels in cafes. To achieve this, each cafe-owner continuously registers the sound levels in their cafe in accordance to the law "Schauwvlieghe”. The city of Louvain goes one step further, as the measured values must be made available real time to the authorities. This allows a direct response to complaints and there is insight to which extent the levels are exceeded in the past. It is also immediately clear if the goals are achieved.
Through a tender, market players were invited to offer to this system. After careful selection and assessment of the results from a trial period, the Munisense HorecaSense system is selected for implementation. The HorecaSense system is a flexible, wireless and affordable online real-time sound measuring system for the night-life industry, based on the latest technologies. Especially the INSIGHTNOW™ functionality of the underlying platform and the comprehensive ways of detecting fraudulent use were decisive for the choice.
In the next six months, Munisense will implement the system, in close cooperation with the KU Leuven.
