Prevent botulism by measuring surface-water quality

Utrecht, July 15, 2010. At 'Fort aan de klop' in Utrecht, the Netherlands, Munisense measures water temperature and dissolved oxygen of the surface water around the fort. The city of Utrecht uses the measurements to determine the amount of drainage necessary to prevent water-born diseases - like botulism - to occur.

By measuring parameters like water temperature, dissolved oxygen, turbidity, conductivity, and acidity it is possible to get a good sense of surface-water quality. This makes it possible to warn early about degrading conditions and - if possible - to act to improve water quality.
