City of Alkmaar starts using Munisense noise monitoring system

Saturday 21st of May you can enjoy "Together in the square" again. On the Waag and Canadasquare an impressive 14 orchestras are performing. Something for everyone. Enough reason to visit of course, but there is more. The new sound system for the inner city is also in use for the first time during this event.

Events are part of a vibrant inner city life. Alkmaar is a true event town and we are proud of that. Part of events is sound. It is important how sounds are dealt with as they can cause a disturbance. That's why agreements are made with al parties about what is and isn't allowed. To be certain these agreements are honoured until now seperate sound measurements were performed. For example if someone has a complaint or with big events.

With the new system of munisense this isn't necessary any longer as it measures the sound levels constantly. This brings clarity to all stakeholders, both for the neighbours as for the organizers of events. It's possible to respond immediately. In other cities this same system is already in use and gets very positive responses.
