Following on from previous projects, Leuven and Ghent are continuing their work on "Nudging Down Night Noise."
The two largest student cities will measure and identify nighttime noise at various locations to gain a comprehensive overview of nighttime noise pollution. A sound recognition model will be used for this purpose.
In addition, both cities are seeking a common basis for measuring and describing nighttime noise. To this end, the City of Ghent will combine objective data from measurements taken by our noise monitoring stations with acoustic modeling.
Furthermore, both cities will proactively address nighttime noise using nudging techniques. Leuven is exploring scaling up projections and controlling public lighting. New nudging techniques are also being explored.
In addition to the objective data from the measurements, both cities will also be working with residents' subjective data on noise pollution.
